Tadelche married at 18, and within a year had given birth to her daughter. Her second child, a son, followed soon after that. The birth of her third child was much more difficult. “I experienced severe labor pains at home. By the time I arrived at a health centre, the damage was done. I had developed a fistula.”

“The fistula caused me to constantly leak urine. I was ashamed and worried about how I would care for my children in this condition. Thankfully, my family brought me to the Yirgalem Hamlin Fistula Center, where I could receive the specialised treatment I needed.

They also gave me hope for the future

“From the moment I arrived, I felt a sense of relief. The staff took such wonderful care of me – they bathed me, fed me regular meals, and checked on me constantly to monitor my progress. I was amazed at the kindness and compassion they showed.

“As I began the treatment process, I was nervous, but the other patients reassured me that it was not painful. Slowly, I started to see improvements in my condition. The constant leaking stopped, and I could finally hold my head high without shame.”

The staff at the hospital did not just treat my physical illness – they also gave me hope for the future. I realised that I was not alone in this struggle and that with their support, I could overcome this challenge and be the mother my children deserved.”

I am determined to forge a bright new path

“After the successful surgery, I felt a renewed sense of purpose. I was eager to return home, reconnect with my family, and restart my old job at a local restaurant. The hospital had not only healed my body, but also my spirit.

“I am forever grateful to the doctors, nurses, and staff at this incredible institution. Their dedication and kindness have truly changed the course of my life. I will always remember their support and care, and I hope to one-day pay it forward to others in need.

“With my family by my side and a renewed passion for life, I looked to the future with excitement. I knew the road ahead would not be easy, but I am determined to forge a bright new path – one that would inspire others and create a lasting legacy of hope and empowerment.”
